A special guide to send for your friends who are visiting Berlin this weekend
The 48th Christopher Street Day Berlin (CSD) runs across two days for the first time in its history: Friday and Saturday. The motto is “Haltung ist Hot” (Taking a stand is hot), and it’s meant literally. Berlin’s CSD has always been more political than most European Prides, and 2026 doubles down: this is a demonstration first, a party second. Around half a million people are expected. Trucks, floats, sound systems, and a two-week Pride Month leading in. Berlin holds the line where other cities have let it slip.
The route hasn’t changed. What has changed is the shape of the weekend itself.

What’s different this year
Two days at the Brandenburg Gate. Friday evening is the Democracy Evening (6-11 pm), a first for CSD Berlin, framing the weekend around anti-hate politics, voting, and civil society before the parade even starts. Saturday afternoon is the traditional closing rally, running until midnight.
Eight stages on Saturday. Four fixed, four on trucks that roll with the parade. The largest stage program in CSD Berlin history, spanning pop, electro, techno, Schlager, FLINTA* favorites and a kinks-need-no-shame electro floor.
The Soul of Stonewall Awards get a bigger platform. This year’s recipients: Édouard Louis and Didier Eribon (Global Impact, Friday), BUTCH*WALK (Visibility & Community, for expanding lesbian visibility in public space), and Peter Plate & Ulf Sommer (Lifetime Achievement). If you know Louis and Eribon from their books on class, shame and queerness, this is a rare live moment.

Opening at 11:30 am, first vehicle at 12:00 noon · Leipziger Str. / Charlottenstr.
Route: Leipziger Str. → Potsdamer Platz → Bülowstr. → Nollendorfplatz → An der Urania → Lützowplatz → Klingelhöferstr. → Großer Stern (Siegessäule) → Straße des 17. Juni → Brandenburg Gate. First vehicles reach the closing rally around 3:30 pm. Closing rally runs until midnight.
Best viewing spots for the parade itself: Nollendorfplatz (the queer heart of Schöneberg, where the parade slows down and the crowd is densest), Potsdamer Platz (open sightlines, easy to leave), or the terrace of the Neue Nationalgalerie where Roi Perez plays a warm-up set 12-3 pm (Saturday). It happens alongside Gilbert Baker: Rainbow Flag, the show on the artist who designed the flag itself, so you get the history and the party in one stop.

Housed in a former furniture store at Kottbusser Tor, high ceilings, concrete pillars, satellite dishes above the bar. Polish beer, Russian vodka, DJs when it feels right. Tuesday is FLINTA* night from 9:30 pm; Thursday is the queerest day of the week. Tight, loud, permanent.
Tipsy Bear · Prenzlauer Berg’s queer heart

Drag shows every weekend, karaoke, quiz nights, happy hour twice daily at 6 pm and 11 pm. If Möbel Olfe is the drinking hall, Tipsy Bear is the living room. English easy, performance-forward, warm.
Hafen · Schöneberg’s original watering hole

Opened in 1990, one of the oldest gay bars in Berlin still running. Low ceilings, dark wood, no production. It’s just a corner bar. Monday quiz night, monthly schlager party “Ein Schiff wird kommen,” Sunday is “Sunny Night.” Older crowd, worn-in living-room feel.

Pink fur walls, padded ceiling, mirror balls. It’s tiny and always packed. Right next to SO36, so it works as a pre- or post-stop rather than a destination. Cash only, strictly pop classics, 30-plus years as a Kreuzberg fixture.
SilverFuture · Neukölln’s punk corner

Louder, scrappier, more FLINTA-forward. Eclectic decor, a sign at the door telling you to leave heteronormativity behind. If the rest of the guide leans Kreuzberg/Prenzlauer Berg/Schöneberg, this pulls Neukölln in and plays well against Tipsy Bear’s polish.

Berlin’s dedicated gay sauna, 1,500m² across three floors: Finnish sauna, whirlpool, steam room, dark rooms, private cabins, a bar and a restaurant. Queues stretch past 300 people on some Pride weekends. Bring a lock.

For CSD, four Berlin-based artists from Türkiye perform inside Akkel's show: Merey Şenocak on sound and more-than-human relations, İrem Apak (iremaum) on ambient and dub, Etkin Çekin on avant-pop and experimental club, Bekir Arslan on translation as queer survival and imagination. Sound, voice and body meeting past fixed categories.

Kyiv Biennial · A Bird That Cannot Land

A KW-hosted chapter of the Kyiv Biennial linking post-Soviet Eastern Europe with Central and Southwest Asia and the Mediterranean, around war, colonialism and imperialism. Not queer-themed per se, but essential political context, and the room where Lucia Kagramanyan performs her Armenian lullabies session on Thursday.

“Inventing Queer Cinema” Insider Tour

Fabian Fornalski walks a small English-speaking group through the show on how queer German cinema was built and rebuilt since the 1970s. Curator Björn Koll runs Salzgeber, whose distribution archive goes on public view here for the first time. Berlin at the heart of the story.

The most iconic of Berlin’s Sommerbäder, where the LGBTIQ+ community is at home alongside big families and lap swimmers. Two 50-metre pools, a large lawn with a nudist section at the back. ID check at the door.
Teufelssee (Grunewald) · The cruising lake

Berlin's most legendary queer lake, tucked in the Grunewald forest. The southern shore is the unofficial queer FKK stretch - nobody's exclusively gay-only about it, but the crowd skews broadly queer, and it's an open secret. No amenities, no bar, bring your own everything. Not signed, not policed, entirely vibes-based, which is the whole point. Other option is the Habermannsee (lake).
