🎭 Performance Art
ARM DANCES by Niels Weijer
”ARM DANCES” is a performance about gestures, Renaissance sculptures, caregiving, and trust. These seemingly different concepts come together as the dancers engage with a large arm-shaped object. The dancers transition from being metaphors for fingers to becoming parts of a tableau vivant, all while embodying the workforce in a museum setting up a sculpture. From Friday 18.08 to Sunday 20.08. 19h, Kiezkapelle, Hermannstraße 102, 12051 Berlin. Tickets: 15€, two for 25€.
SHARED LANDSCAPES, Seven pieces between fields and forests
What happens when landscapes become theatre? What if art did not represent nature but allowed us to experience it differently and collectively? With “Shared Landscapes,” curator Caroline Barneaud and director Stefan Kaegi (Rimini Protokoll) invite the audience to leave the theatre and venture into Berlin’s green surroundings. From 19.08 to 10.09. Saturday & Sunday, 1 pm. WaldschuleHangelsberg, Heidegarten 1, 15537 Grünheide (Mark). Tickets: 30€/15€.
EXIT ABOVE after the tempest by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Meskerem Mees, Jean-Marie Aerts, Carlos Garbin / Rosas #TanzImAugust
"My walking is my dancing" – embodies Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker's ethos, shaping her choreographic journey from primary motion sequences to intricate spatial compositions. She revisits this foundation, delving into its diverse facets. The performance navigates the contrast between synchronized group movement and individual steps breaking away, embracing tension and harmony. Friday 18.08 & Saturday 19.08. 7 p.m. Haus der Berliner Festspiele, Schaperstraße 24, 10719 Berlin. Tickets: 18-42 €.
SOTTOBOSCO by Chiara Bersani / Corpoceleste #TanzImAugust
Chiara Bersani takes her audience and performers on a journey into the underwood of an imaginary forest. Sound and gestures gradually evolve into an independent language in this mysterious environment. The work is built upon workshops with individuals with motor disabilities. Bersani collaborates with these participants and investigates how bodies with disabilities can coexist with nature. From Friday 18.08 to Sunday 10.08. HAU 2, Hallesches Ufer 34, 10963 Berlin. Tickets: 17-24 €.
PHASE L by Lukas Steltner
“PHASE L” is a danced ritual based on elements of breaking. The setting is the circle, the cypher, which is created by both the four dancers and the audience. Individuality versus uniformity, the development of one’s style in the context of fixed dance sequences and expectations, the search for unity in competitive dance, and the breaking up of complex step sequences and rhythms are negotiated. Friday 18.09 to Sunday 20.08. 7 p.m. DOCK 11, Kastanienallee 79, 10435 Berlin. Tickets: 15 €.

Lalai invites Rodrigo Guima
Rodrigo Guima, known as Guima, is a Brazilian who splits his time between Berlin and São Paulo. He’s one of the founders behind one of the city’s largest carnival “blocos,” “Tarado ni Você.” He is a curator, experience designer, artist, and DJ - one of those radiant individuals you always wish to have around. Seizing his presence in Berlin, we caught up with him to discuss his favorite spots:
Kwia - a listening bar: “Within my search for spaces that offer a listening experience (where the dance floor isn’t the main focus), I discovered Kwia: a delightful bar located by the canal at Maybachufer. The schedule usually runs from Tuesday to Sunday, starting at 8 pm, and it’s always announced on Instagram or the website. The vibe there is to arrive quietly, take off your shoes, order a drink, and sit on the rugs to chat with friends or enjoy good music. Both the programming and the management of the venue are done by Queer people, creating an even safer space.”
Stralauer Spitze: “When I was invited to talk about a place I loved, but one that had something unusual, it took me a while to decide what it was, and I ended up choosing to suggest a place I loved discovering when I was taken there for a date: the Stralauer Spitze. It's a little spot on the Spree River with a beautiful view and a pleasant sitting area. And if the date isn't interesting, it can be replaced by a delightful corner to read a book in a more unexpected location!”
