Julien Gosselin's "EXTINCTION" invites audiences to immerse themselves in the artistic and intellectual life of early 20th-century Vienna.
For those who love art, there are mesmerizing exhibitions currently being showcased. "Celebrating Picasso" showcases Picasso's ceramic work and its profound reflections on life, death, and transformation. "NUDE" at Fotografiska challenges traditional perceptions of nudity in art through the lens of 30 female-identifying artists from 20 countries.
The “Tag Der Clubkultur” continues with special events and parties until next Sunday. We've curated a list of parties and concerts for those seeking great music and a lively dancefloor.
We've invited our talented friend Marcelo Kuna, a Brazilian émigré enchanting Berlin as a singer and writer. He shared with us a small guide with his favorite places in Berlin for food, drink, and the performing arts.

🔊 Mateus invites Marcelo Kuna
Maybe being such an obvious Taurus, all of Marcelo's favorite places in Berlin involve some type of food, drink, and the performing arts. 🧚🏼🍸
Marcelo Kuna is a Brazilian émigré, enchanting Berlin as a singer and writer after revamping an over a decade-long interest in being a self-professed "occultural" scholar. Marcelo graduated summa cum laude with a Master of Arts in Kulturwissenschaft (Cultural History and Theory) at the Humboldt University of Berlin, focusing on non-hegemonic knowledge and its historical disregard amidst the birth of Western modern science. You can find the artist and scholar performing on one of Berlin’s many cultural spaces, or engaging in philosophical conversations at your local bar. Namaskar! Read Marcelo's tip in his own words
Deutsche Oper - My second house after Sylvia Klein’s and Stephen Bronk’s Fantabulous Bohemian Pad, this has been THE place where I’ve seen some of the most incredible avant-garde stagings (some of them performed by Stephen Bronk himself), as well as where I had the privilege to witness my friend Ronni Maciel unsettle traditional operagoers in Frank Castorf’s staging of La Forza del Destino by Giuseppe Verdi (both in its premiere in 2019, as well as in 2023). Bismarckstr. 35, 10627 Berlin.
Monsieur Vuong - My friend Eva took me to this wonderful restaurant in Berlin-Mitte the first year I arrived in the city, and I often go there with friends who are visiting. The menu offers traditional Vietnamese food but also some very delicious vegan options. It’s a nice spot for a weekend afternoon in Mitte, but depending on the time of the day, you can find yourself having to wait for a table. Alte Schönhauser Str. 46, 10119 Berlin.
Würgeengel - After going to this lively cocktail bar for the first time on a cold winter night with my friend Lyndal Walker, I have now become addicted to both their renditions of Blood & Sand and Old Fashioned (which tingle down the throat in a very pleasant way). On weekend nights after 10 pm, you’ll see this bar at its busiest! Dresdener Str. 122, 10999 Berlin.
Bar Internazionale - Even though I lived in a sublet right in front of Volksbühne for only one month in 2022, I think I have been to this pizzeria, bar, and café more often than any other place in town. They offer delicious food and wine, as well as a very friendly staff. Oh, and they make gluten-free pizzas if that’s your thing! Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße 31, 10178 Berlin.
Café Kalwil - Before someone tries to revoke my queer card, this is my favorite place to go have brunch on a Sunday, especially when I’m still dressed up from the night before. The vintage decor and crystal chandeliers make me feel like I’m dining in a period drama. Motzstraße 30, 10777 Berlin.
