Must-Go Events in Berlin: March 21st to 24th
Nothing beats spring arriving with sunny days. Restaurant terraces fill up, parks become crowded, and everyone wants to be outdoors. The cultural agenda in Berlin is pretty busy, causing some FOMO.
This weekend is no different, with sold-out concerts featuring big names like Oneohtrix Point Never, Gossip, and Underworld. But if you’re looking for something more laidback, we suggest Marla Hansen & Isabelle Klemt at Donau155 and the electroacoustic harpist Martina Stock at Maschinenhaus.
For those who like a modern adaption of classical pieces, don’t miss “Nora or How to Compost the Mansion” in Deutsches Theater. Meanwhile, “A Scream in the Dark” at Ballhaus Prinzenlalle provides an opportunity to explore Brazilian theatre, offering a cultural perspective and enriching the theatrical landscape.
For party people, Disco Tehran at Gretchen and DJ Fart in The Club at Spell are hotspots. Don't miss the anticipated exhibition "Nancy Holt: Circle of Image - Experiments with Sound, Image, Objects 1966–1986" opening at Gropius Bau this Thursday, with a DJ playing at the museum's restaurant.

🎧 Rrose's live shows are mind-bending exercises in psychedelic techno and bassy mutations—a must for serious heads. The 180-minute project starts at 7 pm, the first hour is reserved for an upcoming artist who will warm up for the headliner. The main act then plays live for 180 minutes, followed by a cool-down set by the support act.

Cassette Head Sessions presents Astan Ka

As a way to counter the logics (or absence of logics) that dictate the often too short life span of dance pieces and a certain sense of powerlessness in relation to the length of that span, Frédéric Gies started building programs of dances as well as new performances that recycle dances from their repertoire.

Animist beliefs are still widely held in the Congo, but their expression is only taboo. "Nkisi," in Lingala, means "remedy" or "sacred fetish." Jolie Ngemi's performance explores this tradition, questioning its relevance in today's world and portraying Nkisi women as powerful figures.

Sivan Ben Yishai focuses on the invisible protagonists of the Ibsen classic Nora or A Doll's House. For the first time, the focus is not on Nora, but on the story of the house – and that of its residents: Helene, the housemaid, the parcel carrier waiting for that one appearance, and Anne-Marie, the nanny who gave up her own life to work for Nora and raise her children. They all occupy this house and the rooms of these stories.
A Scream in the Dark

A Scream in the Dark” (Um Grito no Escuro) is a project by Companhia Nova de Teatro that investigates some aspects of military dictatorship and censorship in Brazil (1964-1985). Based on political prisoners’ testimonies and letters filed in the National Archives of Brazil, this multimedia play casts a glance at women who were arrested and tortured during the Brazilian Military Regime. Solo piece performed by Carina Casuscelli.
Nancy Holt: Circles of Light - Experiments with Sound, Image, Objects 1966–1986

"Circles of Light" is a comprehensive survey exhibition of Nancy Holt's work. Spanning five decades, it explores the perception of our environment and our place on the planet through film, photography, sculptures, and installations. Holt's innovative approach incorporates natural and artificial light, challenging viewers to rethink their understanding of space and time. "How Love Moves", by Pallavi Paul, is opening on the same day.
Park Insights: Four Positions from Artistic Research

Berlin is getting a new platform for contemporary art in the context of landscape, nature, and architecture. Spreepark Art Space transforms Berlin's former GDR amusement park into a dynamic hub for contemporary art, blending urban context with nature and public space. Park Insights offers multi-sensory insights by artists Marcus Maeder, Sabine Scho, Sissel Tolaas, and Annett Zinsmeister, revealing hidden dimensions of the park.
“Ré-imaginer le passé”

This group exhibition developed in Dakar offers a fresh perspective on the past and creates spaces for alternative forms of knowledge and knowledge transfer. FIND - Festival International New Drama 2024 at Schaubühne

The FIND is showcasing contemporary theatre from around the world. This year’s edition presents three productions in Portuguese.
