Must-Go Events in Berlin: April 4th to April 7th
Warm days are back this weekend, and it's great to see Berlin coming alive again in vibrant colors after months of grey. We checked out the new Spreepark Art Space, just a short and pleasant stroll from Treptower Park. They have a cute café and a Biergarten there. This weekend looks promising, with temperatures rising for this time of year. The Zenner Biergarten and the Biergarten on the Insel der Jugend are already bustling.
Echo & the Bunnymen is a must-see concert for those with goth souls like us. Then, on Thursday, don't miss the party with Jane Fitz at OHM. Friday presents a tough choice: either Get Perlonized, featuring producer Isolee at Zenner's decks, or dancing the night away with Sama' Abdulhadi at Watergate. However, one thing is for sure: we'll be at the Sound Metaphors party this Saturday at Prince Charles, ready to dance with 🎧 Barbara Boeing.
Don't miss Yana Ross's thought-provoking production of Anton Chekhov's "Ivanov" at the Berliner Ensemble, exploring complex societal issues. Alternatively, transport yourself to Belle Époque Paris with Gӧtz Friedrich's enchanting rendition of "La bohème" at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
Museum Sunday is happening again this weekend. If you haven't visited Haus am Waldsee yet, now's your chance to see Jenna Bliss's exhibition and stroll through the beautiful garden at this contemporary art venue. Photography enthusiasts shouldn't miss "Chronorama - Photographic Treasures of the 20th Century," following its successful premiere at the Palazzo Grassi in Venice.

The duo from Zurich blends their original background in beat-making and electronic music with the sounds of the young and vibrant European jazz scene. Through collaboration with local jazz musicians, their project 🎧 Okvsho +experience emerged, celebrating improvisation, spontaneity, and jazz as dance music.
Spring Sessions: Robert Machiri & Guests

Together with Memory Biwa, Robert Machiri was a fellow of the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program. With this unique approach, he draws inspiration from music spanning different decades and continents. Referencing mixtape practices, he creates soundscapes that traverse experimental, jazz, Afro beats, electronic music, field recordings, and spoken word.

This first drama by Anton Chekhov depicts a pleasure-seeking society, where Nikolai Ivanov seeks refuge from his moral struggles. Director Yana Ross, an expert on Chekhov, combines canonical texts with contemporary discourses, exploring societal wounds and no regard for irritabilities.

Bruno Latour suggests in volatile times, finding stability is crucial for reorientation. This echoes Nancy Stark Smith's notion of "bonding with the earth." Moving within Latour's "critical zone" involves grounding oneself, connecting with all life, and directing attention purposefully. Peter Pleyer's research into the history of release technique and his way of telling dance stories are twisted and devoured in a whirlwind.
La bohème

Götz Friedrich’s production from 1988 transposes the action from 1840s Paris to the end of that century, i.e. to Giacomo Puccini’s present day. His version of the work, with its colorful depictions of Belle Époque Paris and the outsized stage sets, continues to captivate audiences 35 years later.
Moonlight Euphoria - Paintings by Clayton Junior

Moonlight Euphoria offers viewers a sneak peek into Clayton’s playful perspective on nature, though the images are both dreamlike and narrative. The artist oscillates between figuration and abstraction, resulting in works that are often enigmatic and strikingly colorful. The vernissage will feature two DJ sets and handmade infused Cachaça at the bar.
Annabel Daou: War Games

In this body of work, Annabel Daou looks back at her wartime childhood in Beirut to reimagine the games that were a part of it. In the sound piece from which the show takes its title, Daou asks persons, across generations and geography, whose childhoods were marked by conflict to tell her a story, a vaguely or vividly remembered moment during a time of chaos or deprivation.
