Summer is here! You can head to a beautiful lake or enjoy the great summer events if you aren’t going to Fusion.
Here are our music highlights: Kalaf Palang at HKW or Ellen Allien heating things up at Berlin Beats in Hamburger Bahnhof on Thursday. If you love experimental music, a lot is happening: we recommend HJirok at HAU1, Black Communion at Morphine Raum, Media Loca at Silent Green, and Kiezsalon. We're a bit torn about which concert to see this weekend.
For those looking for a great dancefloor, here are our highlights: Away x Detroit Love at Else and Live from Earth Klub at Berghain/Panorama Bar. Don't miss the Festa Junina - Arraiá da Bossa if you love Brazilian vibes.

Join Angolan writer and musician Kalaf Epalanga for "Tell Me What You Listen and Dance To, And I Will Tell You Who You Are," a sonic event blending music, literature, and storytelling. Known from Buraka Som Sistema, Epalanga explores musical tastes from big football events like the World Cup and the African Cup of Nations, inviting us to reflect on identity through music and sports.

Berlin-based cult experimental pop artist Mary Ocher presents a special Rough Trade in-store showcase. Featuring two new records, "Approaching Singularity: Music for The End of Time" and 🎧 "Your Guide to Revolution," the music spans cumbia, post-punk, field recordings, cosmic synth compositions, and deconstructed techno.
BLACK Communion

BLACK Communion shares experiences from the transnational Afro-diaspora, breaking genre boundaries and encouraging collaboration. This event series celebrates artists from diverse backgrounds and creative communities, united by their sonic activism in composition, improvisation, and sound art. The third edition features 🎧 Robert Machiri, Savanna Morgan, and Kelvin Lamar Sholar.
Thievery Corporation

Thievery Corporation blends diverse musical genres like electronic, dub, reggae, and bossa nova, creating a unique sound like few others. This concert promises to be beautiful.

HJirok / Temporal Soundscapes

🎧 HJirok, a mythical character by Iranian-Kurdish artist Hani Mojtahedy and Andi Toma (Mouse on Mars), roams a soundscape with Sufi percussion, setar tracks from Kurdistan, and contemporary electronics. Yael Lavie’s “Temporal Soundscapes” blends her Kanun playing with electronics and drum machines, inspired by spiritual music, electronic, and experimental jazz.

Media Loca, an artist agency founded by Gabriele "Mo" Loschelder, showcases radical performances ranging from minimal to maximal and from electronic sample collages to alchemical organ thunderstorms. "The Visitors" dives into the creepy world of Slasher movies, where teens face danger and death while adults are nowhere to be found. Set in South Africa, it touches on family struggles after Apartheid and global issues like who gets to be where. Everyday problems add to the horror. Non-linear stories and humor help the young characters break free from old fears and imagine new futures.
Yerma by Simon Stone

At the 48 Stunden Neukölln festival, explorations of urban silence are welcome: field recordings, experimental music, traditional expressions, compositions, installations, texts, theatre, poetry, pictures, and sculptures. Artists will creatively interpret and present the theme of urban silence. This festival is a good opportunity to explore new spaces in Neukölln.

Nineteen international women artists, born between 1895 and 1996, offer a perspective on the politics of image-making—personal, social, political, and historical—focusing on painting and the artists' diverse approaches. French-Vietnamese sound artist Margaux Gazur explores the Vietnamese diaspora through a sonic performance using instruments and recordings of Hanoi streets, martial arts, and celebrations.
