The Next Day #61: Berlin Weekend Guide
Must-Go Events in Berlin: August 1st to 4th. Cover photo: Alma Negrot by @RECREIOclubber
Hi,
The highlight event this weekend is the WHOLE Queer United Festival in Ferropolis, featuring an awesome lineup of artists from all over the world. But there's plenty to do for those of us staying in Berlin! We're planning to dance with Nur Jaber at Berlin Beats, catch Marcelo D2 at Festsaal Kreuzberg, celebrate Else's 11th anniversary with Mano Le Tough and Prins Thomas, check out Bwa Kayiman—Tout Moun se Moun at HKW, relax at Sanctum of Sound at MaHalla, and wrap up the weekend dancing with Ben Klock at Garten in Berghain. If it gets too hot, we might go to some beach parties at Plötzensee.
If there's any time left, maybe we'll check out some exhibitions at Museums Sonntag.
❗Heads up❗: We're taking a two-week vacation starting next week, but 20 Percent Berlin will still be posting some weekend highlights, and we'll be sharing events on our Instagram. Follow us! ♡
We recommend three weekend guides to follow while we're away: Awesome Berlin, Berlin Weekly Events, and I Heart Berlin.
The new place on our radar: The bistro Theke Berlin in Wedding.
Have a nice weekend!

Fri-Sun, 2–4.08, Performances, Discourse, Music, Dance, Film, Food HKW - Haus der Kulturen der Welt, John-Foster-Dulles-Allee 10, 10557 Berlin. Free admission.
Artists, scholars, priestesses, and other beings from the Caribbean, Asia, and Africa stage a series of performative gestures ranging from bodily expressions, discursive gatherings, sound-based offerings, food-sharing moments, and communal agoras as part of the second edition of Bwa Kayiman—Tout Moun se Moun at HKW.

Friday, 02.08, 8:30 pm. Choreographer: Lēnablou. HKW - Haus der Kulturen der Welt, John-Foster-Dulles-Allee 10, 10557 Berlin. Free admission.
Sugar is a symbol of a dehumanizing moment in history, namely that of colonization. In Le Sacre du sucre choreographer Lēnablou evokes a way of living that has taken root in the Caribbean. Igniting a danced moment of creativity amongst a dark history, she channels the unpredictable art of fap-fap, an aesthetic of harmony, that emanates from disorder.

Art resembles a game of cards whose exact rules nobody knows. Yet all play or play poker. This comprehensive exhibition is long overdue in Berlin, home to one of the largest collections of Friedrich’s paintings. Numerous acquisitions and presentations in the Prussian capital contributed to his early fame.
