This week’s lineup is stacked with events that will trigger some FOMO. Our top picks: are the Future East Festival 2024 at Musikbrauerei, the Aurora Edition at Silent Green, and we’re even thinking of a chill Friday night at Rausch on the Backsteinboot, with its electroacoustic performances perfect for meditative listening.
Our highlights for those looking for a party are the Kimchi Records party, Interplanetary Criminal and Amy Dabbs at Watergate and Nightmare on Wax at KOFFÄIN. If you’ve got kids at home, the Kinder Rave is a great option.
Also on our radar: the Ukrainian Film Festival and the premiere of S/He Is Still Her/e – The Official Genesis P. Orridge Documentary at the Tribute to COUM Transmissions and Throbbing Gristle at Galiläa-Kirche.
The theater play Method, which premiered at the beginning of this month at Volksbühne, will be presented again this Saturday.
Lastly, don’t miss the Silent Networks: Autumn 2024 workshop by Gabriel Francisco Lemos. It’s a perfect mix of mushroom foraging, listening exercises, and creative exploration. A must-go!

The Future East Festival’s next edition, “EXTENSION,” will light up three floors of Musikbrauerei, featuring a diverse mix of ambient, electronic, and electro-acoustic music, A/V performances, and a club night led by the An(8)x festival and kwia. Ingi Bjarni Quartet

Icelandic pianist Ingi Bjarni leads a 🎧 quintet that blends jazz, Nordic folk, and electronica. Their sound features a mix of trumpet and electric guitar, along with smooth bass and percussion. Don’t miss them live at one of Berlin’s coziest spots.
Aurora Edition: Yanling + Jan Urbiks + Amedeo Cappelletti + Tim Novikov (AV)

Aurora Edition brings an immersive ambient and experimental concert with Yanling, who debuts her new label and upcoming album. Carl Stone + Liz Allbee

Open Haus: Yves Klein Monotone Silence Symphony

The Monotone Silence Symphony, created by Yves Klein, delivers a unique experience: 20 minutes of a single sustained chord followed by 20 minutes of silence. The result is an immersive dive into sound and silence, reflecting Klein's art and his deep exploration of the audible and invisible. It’s my kind of meditation.

Playwright Kata Wéber and director Kornel Mundruczó’s second collaboration for the Volksbühne, Method, explores authoritarian structures. Developed with the actors, the story addresses power dynamics, authoritarianism, and dependency. By merging theatrical and cinematic techniques, they aim to reflect on how these themes shape society today.
Alice im Wunderland

Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland celebrates the power of nonsense, blending humor, sadness, and bitterness while questioning the nature of Wonderland. In Oliver Frljić’s version, he explores how absurdity can have serious consequences, showing how Wonderland and Nightmare Land are closely intertwined.

Elyla: Ya-bunanma-m-a-ta-ta: WHAT I SEE WHEN I DREAM

Taking traditional cockfights in Nicaragua and Indonesia as their starting point, the works included in the exhibition by Nicaraguan artist Elyla explore transnational and transoceanic South-South connections, seeking to articulate, in the artist’s words: “a pathway for trans-border anticolonial queer solidarity.”
Mikko Rikala: So Little Changed, So Little Remained

Drawing inspiration from German Romanticism, Rikala’s body of work alludes to the sublime and to being fully immersed in nature as a way of slowly observing natural phenomena and cultivating an awareness of the present moment.
Ukrainian Film Festival

The 5th Ukrainian Film Festival Berlin celebrates Ukrainian cinema under the theme The Art of Being Free. Highlights include a tribute to Serhii Parajanov, marking his 100th birthday with restored screenings of Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors and The Color of Pomegranates. Another must-see is Stepne by Maryna Vroda.
Pornfilmfestival Berlin

With 35 feature films and 21 short film programs, the 2024 Pornfilmfestival Berlin celebrates its 19th edition! Founded in 2006 as an independent, non-commercial film festival, without public funding, the PFFB annually showcases films on sexuality, politics, feminism, gender diversity, post-porn, and body politics.
A Tribute to COUM Transmissions and Throbbing Gristle

Fifty-five years ago, COUM Transmissions debuted in Hull, England, challenging society and paving the way for a unique musical subculture that fused video, sound, and performance art with industrial music. This tribute celebrates this radical art through live concerts with Jasmine Guffond (Day 1) and Contagious (Day 2), film screenings, and video presentations. Silent Networks: Autumn 2024

"Silent Networks" Autumn 2024 is a workshop combining mushroom foraging, listening exercises, and creative exploration. Inspired by John Cage, participants will explore nature through soundscapes, silent performances, and reflection. 🎷 JazzFest Berlin – Past, Present, Future is one of our favorite music festivals in Berlin kicks off on October 31st, featuring highlights like pianist Marilyn Crispell, the Sun Ra Orkestra, and Japanese composer Otomo Yoshihide. The festival runs from 31.10 to 03.11 at various locations, with tickets starting at €22.16.
